New Visa Application Procedure

December 5, 2005

Effective January 1, 2006, the Consular Section of the United States Embassy will only accept visa applications from the public from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Mondays and Thursdays.

Interviews will be scheduled for applicants on the same day between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.  Applicants using the electronic format of DS-156, the visa application form, will be given priority for their interviews.  Applicants using the paper version of DS-156 may have to face a longer wait for an interview.  Therefore, the Embassy strongly suggests that all applicants take advantage of the electronic version, which must be printed and submitted with all supporting documents.

The electronic visa form, DS-156, can be downloaded from the following website: http://evisaforms.state.gov/default.htm.

All other regulations remain the same and applicants are invited to visit the Consular page on the Embassy website at: http://mauritius.usembassy.gov/ for more details on how to apply for a U.S. visa.
