U.S. Government Donates Food and Provisions to the Foyer de La Providence and the Foyer de Nazareth Orphanages
June 27, 2006
U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., Mr. Stephen Schwartz, on behalf of the Government of the United States of America, will donate 1910 kgs of food and provisions to the Foyer de La Providence and the Foyer de Nazareth orphanages on the island of Mahé. The donation ceremony will take place on Wednesday, June 28th at 11:00 a.m. at the Foyer de La Providence.
The donation will be received by the Mother Superior of St. Elizabeth’s Convent, Sister Aimee. The goods were made available by the U.S. Navy, which had purchased the foodstuffs to provision a vessel that subsequently cancelled its port visit to Seychelles.
The U.S. Embassy expresses its appreciation to the Mahé Shipping Company for arranging the shipment and transport of the donated food and provisions to the orphanages.
The U.S. Navy completed refurbishment projects at both orphanages in January 2006. The Government of the United States is pleased to continue this relationship and provide nourishment at these facilities
